Sweet Sixteen

August 13, 2010

My goddaughter turned sixteen today. I am godmother (one of her godmamas, you can never have too many) to a sixteen year old!
Sniff sniff. Will the world stop twirling for a few years so I can catch up with the here and now. We’re spinning way too fast.

Both my beautiful goddaughters and their beautiful mama …

Jessica and her Dad.
Aw, they are so sweet together.
There was a lot of laughter in this shoot.

Don’t try this at home! :)

Bedroom fit for a young beautiful princess.
We love Julia Donaldson’s books too. “No no no, off you go, ho ho hoho ho ho ho” (we have the song version of room on a broom).

The Session Album.
The ultimate keepsake of your session, a family heirloom.
Printed on beautiful art paper, heavyweight pages, you won’t want to put it down.

This was at the start of a shoot, sadly not the end…. totally my fault (but good lesson learnt). Fortunately there were no tears :)

Not long before we’re off on more european adventures. On our way home from our last Belgium trip, we were sitting on a train in London and my son was amazed to hear people speaking english. “Mummy I didn’t know they speak english in England!?!” he exclaimed. Beautiful.

Winter Afternoons

June 23, 2010

Family portrait sessions on a sunny winter afternoon have me squealing quietly for joy. Beautiful soft golden light without keeping the kids up past their bedtime.

It takes a little more effort to find the right day weather wise, but the results are so worth it.

After a wonderful month in Brussels, a few days in London, we flew directly back to NZ (one hour Singapore stop over is perfect when we are lucky enough to score empty planes) arriving late Friday night. 3am Monday I was up getting ready to fly to Australia. The airport Park and Drive is wonderful except when you arrive back 4 days later, midnight, it is pouring with rain and your car battery is flat (no, I didn’t leave the lights on, dodgy battery is all).

I spent four days with some amazing american and australian photographers in a mansion on the coast. Here are some pics from a family shoot I had on our last day. How gorgeous are they!

The most delightful teddy bears picnic you ever did see…

One gorgeous family including three gorgeous girls for an amazing beach session. We had such a fun time hanging out. The girls were incredibly good given we didn’t finish until 7.30pm (to get the gorgeous summer evening light)!. Was absolutely worth it.
